Botox® Gives You Younger Looking Skin
Even though they’re a natural part of the aging process, most of us would prefer to do without wrinkles. Good thing there’s Botox®, one of the safest anti-aging procedures available. In addition to being very safe, Botox® is a quick procedure that is very effective at taking years off your appearance.
Botox® is effective because it weakens the muscles that cause creases in the skin. This weakening reduces the appearance and number of wrinkles.
We are AAFE Certified
Dr. Angela Phan performs Botox treatments for our patients in-house. She is certified by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE). The AAFE is a healthcare organization that educates medical providers about facial procedures that are non-surgical and non-invasive.
A number of esteemed medical professionals are certified by the AAFE, and we are honored to be a part of this group. Certified professionals include doctors, dentists, and nurses.
What to Expect
Most Botox® procedures take between 20 and 40 minutes, and patients notice results immediately afterwards. After 3-5 days have passed, the results will be completely visible.
Botox® is a purified protein. When injected, it temporarily blocks nerve signals, which temporarily relaxes the muscles in your face, causing the skin to lay flat over them. These results usually last for 3-6 months.
Why Would I Go to a Dentist for Botox®?
At Stapleton Modern Dental, Dr. Angela Phan administers Botox®. Her experience and training make her quite familiar with the head and neck anatomy, which is key to successfully and safely inject Botox®.
Some people think that surgeons are the only medical professionals with the skillset to treat patients with Botox®. However, Louis Malcmacher, President of the AAFE, is confident that dentists are qualified:
“The AAFE faculty—which comprises various physicians, nurses, and dentists—will agree wholeheartedly that dental professionals have the skills to deliver outstanding treatment outcomes with Botox®.”
How Much Botox Will I Need?
When medical professionals administer Botox®, they measure it in units. A unit is an increment of volume, similar to how milligrams measure the amount of active ingredients in tablets or capsules.
While it certainly varies from person to person, as a rule of thumb, the space between your eyebrows usually requires 20 units, while crows feet need 5-15.
